2010 Christopher Columbus Foundation-U.S. Chamber of Commerce Life Sciences Awards

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce strongly supports American industry dedicated to protecting human health through the testing, manufacturing and marketing of biomedical products. As scientific innovation of biomedical products begins at the lab bench, the Chamber has formed a partnership with the Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation, a Federal government agency with the mission of promoting and encouraging new discoveries, to present the Third Annual Life Sciences Awards. The awards recognize, through seven monetary awards, one adult scientist/researcher; three current secondary school educators; and three current secondary school students who are judged to exemplify excellence in life sciences.

In addition, $25,000 in research funds will be presented to the recipient of the Chairmen's Distinguished Life Sciences Award to be used to hire a graduate student to assist with the research or the funds may be used toward the research itself.

  • $25,000 Chairmen’s Distinguished Life Sciences Award
    Presented to an adult scientist/researcher working in the field of life sciences. In addition, $25,000 in research funds will also be presented to the recipient.
    
    
  • Three $10,000 Life Sciences Educator Award
    Presented to current secondary school educators promoting the study of life sciences to students.
    
    
  • Three $5,000 Life Sciences Student Awards
    Presented to current secondary school students making contributions in the study of Biology, Chemistry or other life science courses.
