Stephen C. Moss is the CEO of AgustaWestland North America Inc., the U.S. arm of Finmeccanica's AgustaWestland.
Mr. Moss is known in defense and aerospace circles as a strategic thinker, specializing in unconventional approaches to the market, a reputation earned in his 30 years of international business experience. He solidified his place as an industry leader after fulfilling his dream to land an AgustaWestland helicopter on the White House lawn when Team US101 captured the prestigious Marine One program – a feat viewed as impossible by many.
Mr. Moss is an expert in business development, government relations, U.S. government contracting, export licensing and technology transfer, specialties honed in three decades of transatlantic business. As CEO of AgustaWestland North America, Mr. Moss provides strategic and policy guidance to AgustaWestland entities operating in the U.S., in addition to his day-to-day roles overseeing the growing U.S. government business unit, as well as serving on the board of AgustaWestlandBell, a joint venture with Bell Helicopter Textron to build the presidential helicopter, VH-71.
Mr. Moss first joined the company in 1986 as Director of Government Relations for Italy's Agusta SpA. He served as an employee and consultant of the company for over a decade. Prior to his work with Agusta, he served as Research Director and Vice President of the Italian Aircraft Corporation from 1981 to 1986.
In addition to his success at AgustaWestland, Mr. Moss founded and ran The Aerie Group Inc., an international aviation engineering and consulting firm headquartered just outside of Washington DC, with offices in Italy. Mr. Moss left The Aerie Group in 2001 to establish and run AgustaWestland, Inc. and later AgustaWestland North America, Inc.
Mr. Moss's education includes a bachelor's degree in history from Eastern College, a master's degree in history from Villanova University, and a master's degree in international affairs from The George Washington University. While attending the School of Public and International Affairs, Mr. Moss served as a research associate at GWU's Sino-Soviet Institute; there he assisted former Undersecretary of State U. Alexis Johnson in writing his memoir: The Right Hand of Power.
Mr. Moss is a published author on defense policy and trade and a distinguished member of a number of boards, including the American Helicopter Society and International Student Conferences.
